Almir had also been awarded at Rede Globo's MPB Shell Festival in 1981, performing the samba "Mordomia". Recording

Almir Guineto's self-titled album was recorded and released in 1986 by the RGE label. Production and musical direction were handled by Milton Manhães. The recording and mixing processes were carried out at Estúdio Transamérica. The sound engineering team included names such as Cidinho Rodrigues, Edson Brandão, Fátima Guimarães, Luis Fernando, Lélio Martins and Paulo Cesar, with Claudio Farias acting as recording technical supervisor and responsible for mixing.

Songs

The album is packed with compositions that became great classics of samba and pagode. Among the biggest highlights are "Caxambu", "Mel na Boca", "Superman", "Conselho" and "Lama nas Ruas". "Caxambu" in particular, authored by Bidubi, Jorge Neguinho, Zé Lobo and Élcio do Pagode, is notable for its fast-paced and informal interpretation, which evokes the atmosphere of 'partido alto'. The song also draws attention for its introduction featuring the banjo-cavaquinho, an innovative instrument with which Almir Guineto excelled. Another memorable track is "Conselho", a partnership between Adilson Bispo and Zé Roberto, which became an anthem of overcoming adversity and solace. "Lama nas Ruas", composed by Almir Guineto in partnership with Zeca Pagodinho, is another gem from the album. Although it was not an immediate hit at the time of its release, it gained significant prominence and became an even greater success when re-recorded by Zeca Pagodinho in 1997.
