Why This Album Matters

Manual ou Guia Livre de Dissolução dos Sonhos is the second release from the Goiás-based band Boogarins, launched in 2015, and represents a significant evolution in their characteristic psychedelic rock sound. The album stands out for its rich sound, which manages to blend the group's new recordings with the essence of their debut album, creating a dense and immersive sonic fabric. This release not only deepens the band's psychedelic exploration, but also marks a thematic maturation. The album's lyrics demonstrate a more pronounced social consciousness compared to its predecessor, adding a layer of depth and reflection to Boogarins' musical universe.

Context

The creation process for Manual ou Guia Livre de Dissolução dos Sonhos began in 2014, during Boogarins' debut album's European tour. It was during this period that the band took a break to start conceiving the material that would later form the album.

Recording

The album's recording began at Jorge Explosion's Estúdio Circo Perrotti, in Gijón, Spain, where Boogarins spent two weeks composing the new material. The group opted to record to tape, a technique that contributes to the work's organic and characteristic sound. After this initial phase in Europe, the recordings were brought to Brazil. Over several months, interspersed with performances across South America, Boogarins finalised the album at Benke Ferraz's home studio, adding two new songs and multiple sonic layers that harmonised the new recordings with the musical identity established on their debut album.

Songs

The compositions on Manual ou Guia Livre de Dissolução dos Sonhos explore new sonic textures, which fluidly connect with the band's already familiar sound. The album was enriched with the addition of two unreleased songs during its finalisation process, contributing to the expansion of its musical universe. Lyrically, the album distinguishes itself by presenting more socially conscious themes compared to the band's previous work, reflecting a maturity and a more attentive gaze towards contemporary issues.
