Why This Album Matters

Traficando Informação, released in 1999, represents a milestone in MV Bill's career, offering a raw and forceful vision of Brazilian rap. This work is not just an album, but a re-recording and an in-depth reinterpretation of his debut record, CDD Mandando Fechado, originally released independently. With its distinctive sound and lyrics that mirror the reality of the favela outskirts, the album solidified MV Bill's voice as an essential narrator of social issues and life in the favelas, standing out for the authenticity and power of its messages.

Context

Before Traficando Informação, MV Bill had already released his debut album, CDD Mandando Fechado, in 1998, under the independent label Zâmbia, which this album later re-recorded.

Recording

The musical production of Traficando Informação involved the collaboration of various talents. MV Bill himself produced the tracks 'Introdução', 'Traficando Informação', 'Marquinhos Cabeção', 'Contraste Social', and 'Pare de Babar'. Ice Blue contributed to the production of 'Um Crioulo Com Uma Arma na Mão', 'A Noite', 'Soldado do Morro', and 'Atitude Errada'. DJ Luciano Rocha was responsible for the tracks 'Introdução', 'De Homem pra Homem', 'Sem Esquecer das Favelas', and 'Marquinhos Cabeção [Remix]', the latter co-produced by Silvera. The team of musicians included DJ TR on scratches, Mario Caldato on programming and keyboard, and Newton Carneiro on arrangements, keyboard, and guitar. Vander Carneiro was responsible for the recording, mixing, and mastering of the work.
