Why This Album Matters

Fuloresta do Samba, released in 2002, marks a significant turning point in Siba's musical trajectory, representing his first work with the band of the same name. The album emerged from a period of deep immersion by the artist in the culture of Pernambuco's Zona da Mata, where he dedicated himself intensely to ciranda and maracatu de baque solto, rhythms in which he would become a master. This album is a celebration of popular roots, showcasing an authentic and organic sound, shaped by collaboration with local musicians. It is a rich and vibrant manifestation of Pernambuco's musical traditions, presented through Siba's unique vision.

Context

Before Fuloresta do Samba, Siba had built a notable career as guitarist and rabeca player for the band Mestre Ambrósio, one of the pioneering groups of the influential Manguebeat movement, which began in 1992. With the disbanding of Mestre Ambrósio in 2002, the artist decided to move to Nazaré da Mata, in the interior of Pernambuco. It was in this new environment that Siba formed the band Fuloresta do Samba, made up of talented musicians from the region.
