Before Brasil, do Guarani ao Guaraná, Miller had already demonstrated his talent at significant moments. In 1965, he achieved fourth place at the I Festival de Música Popular Brasileira of TV Excelsior with the song "Queixa". His first solo album, Sidney Miller, was released in 1967 by the Elenco label, standing out for its exploration of popular themes and nursery rhymes. In the same year, alongside Nara Leão, he won the best lyrics award at the III Festival de Canção Popular Brasileira with "A Estrada e o Violeiro".
